Besides being a blogger myself, I love to read blogs. In fact, I recently found that there are about 80 blogs I follow! Luckily they don’t all post regularly, or I might be over my head in words. Not that I have a problem with that.
Anyway, since the Google Reader was discontinued, I had to find another blog reader app to use. A few of my favorite bloggers recommended Blog Lovin’, so that was the first one I looked into. I liked almost everything about it, but it turns out that they have no app I can use on my Kindle Fire. That was a deal-breaker, as it’s the main device I use to read blogs, often at night in bed before I go to sleep.
The next one I checked out is called Feedly. It has an app for the Kindle, and I started adding blogs using the app. That soon became frustrating, and I switched to the laptop to add my (admittedly long) list of favorite blogs and set up my preferences. I’m still getting used to it, but I think Feedly will work just fine. I still have to manage my options and such on the laptop, but it’s easy to read new posts using the Kindle.
Feedly also lets you create your own categories for the blogs you read. My categories are: Fae, Friends, Homemaking, Spirituality, Unschooling, and Writing & Biz.
I don’t (yet) have a smartphone, but it looks like Feedly would work just fine with that type of mobile device, too.
If you’re a blog fan like I am, let me know what you use to organize and read your favorites.
